A shared production
Alex wrote Battlefield and shared its direction and editing with Rita Choueifaty. He also contributed voice-over. The film was made by Shaata for an introductory audiovisual course at the Lebanese American University.

About the work
A short psychological thriller about Valentina, a transgender singer confronting public scrutiny. A bedroom mirror, posters and a music video within the film become part of her struggle with how she is seen.

The room as a dramatic space
The action moves between Valentina, a mirror and dresser, posters and a video screen. The red bedroom and its changing images connect her private routine to the public image of the singer.
